The Wonderful Geiranger Fjord
The beautiful Geiranger Fjord stretches from Hellesylt to Geiranger. The Geiranger Fjord is known for its wonderful natural beauty, with steep mountains, majestic waterfalls, old mountain farms, lush green areas and crystal clear water.
It is no wonder that the Geiranger Fjord, as part of the larger Geiranger area, is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The boat trip between Hellesylt and Geiranger is a wonderful experience
The Geirangerfjord is approximately 15 kilometers long and the fjord reaches 600 meters at its deepest. The fjord is surrounded by steep cliffs and mountains that stretch up to 1600 meters above sea level.
The Geiranger Fjord Waterfalls
A lovestory
There are many waterfalls that find their way to the Geiranger Fjord. "The Seven Sisters" (De Syv Søstre) and "The Bachelor" (Frieren) are the most famous. The Seven Sisters is a fantastic sight from the fjord. The waterfall consists of seven separate waterfalls close together, each with its own distinct flow.
The legend associated with the waterfall says that the Seven Sisters flirt and dance playfully down the mountain, with the Bachelor just over on the other side of the fjord.
The Bachelor (Frieren) is a solitary waterfall on the opposite side of the fjord from De Syv Søstre. According to local folklore, The Bachelor is a persistent admirer of the Seven Sisters, and creates a romantic tale around these two waterfalls.
The Bridal Veil waterfall (Brudesløret), not far away, is perhaps the happy ending in the romantic tale. A few weeks a year, meltwater from the mountains creates a shower from the Bridal Veil that forms a beautiful rainbow when the sun shines on it. As if it was a beautiful wedding.

The Old Fjord Farms
High up on in mountain sides throughout the Geirangerfjord are old fjord farms. These are vacated farms from a time gone by. People settled here and ran their farms, some of them as far back as the Viking Age.
Skageflå, Knivsflå and Horvadrag are some of the best known.
The Skageflå farm is located on a mountain shelf 250 meters above the fjord with a fantastic view of the waterfalls The Seven Sisters and the fjord farm Knivsflå on the other side.
Knivsflå is located on a mountain shelf 259 meters above the fjord close to De Syv Søstre.
Horvadrag lies steeply to 240 meters above the fjord, between The Seven Sisters and The Bridal Veil.
Geiranger
Geiranger is a gem deep in the Geirangerfjord. A small, charming settlement with a captivating mix of natural beauty, cultural richness and outdoor experiences.
Geiranger is a charming and idyllic refuge, with charming houses and buildings in. The architecture blends seamlessly with the natural surroundings, creating a harmonious and visually appealing environment. As you stroll through Geiranger's streets, you will find a peaceful atmosphere that perfectly complements the stunning landscape.
